profile
Wendy is a designer and maker of handwoven and jacquard woven textiles. Inspiration for her work comes from natural forms and patterns but also the manmade designs found in architecture. She is passionate about woven textiles from around the world and enjoys researching techniques from different places. She can create small hand woven sample pieces and larger production pieces up to one metre in width, to a required length. She has practical knowledge of many types of natural yarns such as linen, paper and wool along with natural and synthetic yarn dyeing skills. She creates one off pieces in which the function is a considered part of the design process and can also create sample designs to take into production for industry. Wendy works as a senior weave technician for the fashion and textiles Institute at Falmouth University and is actively involved in sharing the traditional skills of weaving in the community.
